Mask by India's Working Title – 2.0
Working Title_2.0 is the vibrant and emerging youth wing of a theatre company that has, for over a decade, pushed the boundaries consistently of Indian stagecraft. They thrive on the endless creative debates that stem from young and passionate opinions originating from every corner of India. Their work includes ‘Once Upon A Tiger’ – an original text that focused on the precarious fate of the Indian tiger.
As part of the application process for Contacting the World we asked companies to go somewhere different and collaborate with someone new. This is what Working Title_2.0 did.
Working Title_2.0 collaborated with Dhanendra Kawade, a Set designer extraordinaire from the theatre, film and television community who set them the challenge of defining what ‘Possession’ meant to them. They then had a conversation discussing the word possession and ended up collaborating with Dhanendra on a mask making Journey who then invited them to eat traditional Indian food with him and together talking about festivals and their food and colours and heightened emotions and drama. Working Title_ 2.0 chatted about the masks that were inevitably a part of their community’s celebrations and how they all found their way, in some influence or the other, in the performing arts, urban or otherwise.
